Ahmad’s interest in research started in high school when he learned of the field of tissue engineering and was impressed by the broad spectrum of stem cell research and it’s important potential in clinical applications.
At FIRM Ahmad’s research focuses on exposing different combinations if stem cells, scaffolds and growth factors to low voltage electrical stimulation in in-vitro and in vivo model systems. He hopes to be able to use his experience in research in his future studies and training in maxillofacial surgery.
Once he completes his German proficiency exams at the University Ahmad hopes to enroll in a German Dental School where he would like to complete his studies and enter into a clinical maxillofacial surgery training program.

In 2015, due to war in Syria, Ahmad was forced to quit his Dental School studies and leave his country. After a long and uncertain journey through Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, and finally Germany he was fortunate to be able to settle in Frankfurt. In Frankfurt he was welcomed by local residents and was enrolled in the Welcome Program at the University in Frankfurt where he is taking intensive German language classes. In addition at the University Medical Center he joined the Frankfurt Initiative for Regenerative Medicine (FIRM) where he is a part-time research fellow.
